Out Out - Techno Is Alive And Well, Techno Has Left The Building (early mix)

This alternate version from Virtual Sound Images shows the song nearing its completion. Rough mixes often aren't worth releasing, but this one shows some interesting differences in texture choices that I rather like. If you download this and like it, please show some love and consider buying some Out Out for your music player - it will thank you. Your ears will thank you. And so will I.

"D.W.I. minimix"

Recently discovered on a shelved master reel, this short track was originally intended to appear as an unlisted band on the D.W.I. 12".
The idea was to have the song 'reappear' for a refrain with the cut-up vocal hook, then edit over to a few bars of Antidote, the next single that was slated for release. It's definitely a little collector's piece.

Mark Alan Miller -
"Non Sequitur Theatre
Interview
with Peter Lee
WMUA Fall 1992"

One of the few "live" interviews I've ever done. The only one that I've got a recorded copy of. Hearing it more than a decade later, Peter Lee comes across as insighful as ever, while my youth clearly shows. Hey, I was nervous being on the radio like that.
The song "Go Again" that was played on-air is available below, but the music was edited out from this MP3 for the sake of brevity, and so the heavy MP3 compression used to get this down to a reasonable size wouldn't make the music sound like poop. Besides, it's all available elsewhere.

"Go Again (Nisus Demo)"

I almost forgot about this song. For some reason I cannot remember, it fell out of the running for Nisus very early on. The political influence in the lyric has me thinking it's 'strangely relevant' to the world today... listen to the interview for more details.
This version is the only one I know of - even the cassette that was played on the air that night is long gone. This MP3 is taken from the same recording as the interview above, and it was recorded off-the-air, in mono, to another cassette, and sounds like it. I did a little to clean it up, but it is what it is.

"3-Track Collage"

I don't even recall what this was for, exactly. I found it on an old 4-track cassette, with time code on track 4 - so it was most likely synchronised to my sequencer for the firing off of synths, samples, or whatever. I suspect it's from late 1988, as there are a couple of elements in there that date from spring of '88 - from a project I did as an independent study in college.
So, on this tape I have three concurrent tracks, with numerous elements coming in and out on each track, so some time was obviously spent. (Was it an exercise in synchonicity or serendipity? Is it obvious to anyone else the indiscriminate use of TV and sound effects CDs?) I took those three tracks, panned them Left, Center, Right, and here's the result (I have no recollection as to original intent, so simpler is better here?!) It's not 'music' as most people would identify 'music' to be, but I think it's interesting enough to put up here for folks to check out, if the large-ish download isn't a deterrent. Just don't expect a dance beat or bassline...
