News 2005:

12.12.05

I put up a reviews page. More like a trivia archive. Reviews are so important, yet so irrelevant. It's what the individual listener ultimate decides that matters. And a good (well-written and relevant, showing insight and context, and not nessesarily favorable) review can help a listener find what they're looking for. Trouble is, a review done by someone who doesn't 'get it' or thinks they're reviewing apples when it's oranges on their plate can do the potential audience a major disservice. Oh well, whatever, I'll take the bad with the good (actually, one of the 'bad' ones is probably my favorite anyhow!)

A reminder, the new video, free for downloading, on the Download page...

Playing: Various New Wave Hits courtesy of Rhapsody (free for me with my broadband connection, so why not? And the artists get a penny per stream! Hm! Rhapsody is *supposed* to have Out Out's stuff by now... but don't. Man, they're slow.)

12.10.05

In celebration of the upcoming new CD "Virtual Sound Images" we have a free video for "Learning English In N.Y.C." available in the Download section. It's a small-size version of the video, the full-size will almost definitely be on the new CD as a bonus feature. Please right-click (PC) or Control-click (Mac) and save it to your local drive instead of streaming it from our server to save us some bandwidth. It's appreciated.

Listenings of late: Severed Heads "Clifford Darling, Please Don't Live In The Past" 2XLP, M.I.A.'s "Arular" CD and Einsturdende Neubauten's Grundstuek CD & DVD. Some old, some new, all fantastic.

11.17.05

Just a quick thank-you to everyone who's been doing a great thing/the right thing and legally downloading stuff... every download is really helping to release the next record! Don't forget - Vein Cage's "Feral Din" is out there too - for sure on iTunes already - with the first 5 Out Out records. Thanks, all.

Another note: Someone hit this site with the search "russian legitamate mp3 downloads" - if it's not listed on the 'Downloads' page here, and my music is on another "MP3 Site" please do two things: 1) Let me know, so I can go after the thieves, and 2) DON'T download ANYTHING from them, as it's probably not legitimate. You know, when in doubt, don't download from a MP3 pay site that you're not sure about - do some Google research, ask around - 'cause if it seems too good to be true (steep discounts on prices, for example) then they're probably operating illegally and NOT PAYING THE ARTISTS/COPYRIGHT HOLDERS. Boo. (Some countries have lax laws about this stuff - Just because a MP3 site says "we're legal" on it doesn't mean globally - a loophole in copyright law in Russia, for example, allows these companies to sell this stuff without actually compensating the artists and/or labels. Downloading from them is the same as illegal downloads from a P2P site, except you're paying someone, and they're pocketing the money.)

Additionally, Wired Magazine Online has another good story (editorial, partially) >>here<< regarding Sony. Good questions, indeed.

Turntable turns: Lots of New Order 12"s (on a kick, it seems) including and not limited to "Everything's Gone Green", "Murder" and "Temptation".

11.16.05

It's an official announcement - the final stages of production on "Virtual Sound Images" (as the now abbreviated title) have begun. Artwork is almost done, arrangements for CD pressing are moving forward, and we're looking at a Feb 14th release date as of right now. The Discography page has been updated to reflect this exciting new release, and keep your eyes on the Download page, as a freebie might appear soon, too.

If you havn't been following the criminal actions of Sony/BMG, check out this article from the genius who uncovered it >>here<<, read more about it in Wired Magazine Online >>here<<, read Microsoft's branding of Sony's software as malware >>here<< and then read Sony's response >>here<<. Seems that Sony only buckled when it was apparent they were in too deep. Even the DHS got into it (yikes! read about that >>here<<.)
So way to go, Sony, for really helping the consumer feel comfortable and happy to buy your overpriced CDs. You moan about downloading hurting the industry and then do this crap. That's not helping at all. Morons. How about this? Release better music and invest in artist development, and build a sense of trust and loyalty in your potential fans/record-buying-public! When people love music they tend to purchase it. When they simply somewhat like is when they tend to copy/illegally download it, with the justification that they wouldn't pay for it anyway. Even though I don't support illegal copying/downloading, I can complletely understand why it happens, especially in light of this complete disconnect from the public trust, combined with the Major Labels' continuing insistance on keeping most of their releases coming from the pre-fab, manufactured, looks-are-more-important-than-the-music-itself fashion and trend driven drivel pool. Of course sales are poor - so much of what's forced into the cultural gullet is empty pap! Another big "duh".

Live concert of great mention: Bauhaus at the Orpheum, Boston. Put most current bands to shame, even when playing music that's nearly a quarter-century old! These guys are much better musicians now than when they originally recorded these songs, and it really showed in the performance. Sounded simply stunning.

11.07.05

"1989-1999" is available through Best Buy, of all things. Online, go to the link on the Shop page, or go to any Best Buy and ask a clerk... they won't have anything physically in stock, but if they've been properly trained/informed, they'll direct you to a in-store kiosk where you can order the CD. This whole thing is through an arrangement with CDBaby, so the artists are getting the same fair treatment that they always have - CDBaby is giving Best Buy a cut, but none of that comes out of the artist!

Work has begun on the cover art for the new Out Out CD! Titled "The Acid Pirates Present Virtual Sound Images", we're looking at a February release date, with a little luck. Stay tuned!

So, someone hit this site searching for "ayria flicker torrent" - just buy the damn thing. How many times do I have to say it? Illegal downloading (c'mon - this was a search for the whole album) hurts independent artists. And in this case, as it is in many, anyone can hear samples of the record on the label's site to decide if they want it or not. Figure it out, people. (And if you're not the type of leech in question, good for you, you can ignore rants like these...)

3x7" x 2 on the turntable: New Order's 3-7" set of "Waiting For The Siren's Call" with 3 different mixes on the A-sides, and 3 new remixes of old NO classics on the B's. Also, Stereolab's 3-7" 'set' "Interlock"/"Visionary Road Maps", "Plastic Mile"/"I Was A Sunny Rainphase" and "Kybernetická Babička" Pts 1 & 2.

10.31.05

Happy Halloween. Like, boo, and stuff. It's official - I'm building a new studio. Go to my other site >>here<< occasionally to get updates/learn more/satisfy curiosity... and see what I actually do for a living.

Now playing: Head Of David's "The Saveana Mixes" 12" and New Order's "The Perfect Kiss" 12"

10.18.05

Fabryka just put up the English version of our interview >>here<<.

Tuneage: "I Love Guitar Wolf ...very much" tribute CD - I recorded the J Mascis track - and he's played a bunch of their stuff for me. Cool band - cool/wild/weird comp. Also, some old Cure 7" singles. The B-Side to "The Walk (exceptional in itself) is "The Dream". Formative years, when that came out.

10.18.05

After the nessesary legalities, Voiceprint is hitting the digital download train. Thanks to everyone who has been downloading Out Out material through legitimate download channels - it really helps, and is encouraging to see people will opt to acquire their music in a fashion that compensates the artist, as opposed to just grabbing it for free.

Also, I'm casually collecting reviews of Out Out records, starting with 1989-1999, and linking to them only from this news entry, for the time being. If anyone has reviews I've not seen, I'd love to know. Go >>here<< to read the ones I've found for the new record (sparse as they may be...)

I may try to archive all the reviews I know of, for all the records, and I reserve the right to comment/editorialise on them as I see fit! Ha! For now, it's an informal section of the site.

<There was a longer rant here about illegal filesharing, but I decided to pull it and simply counter the damage the subject of the rant is causing by putting a link to Collapse Into Reason's CDBaby listings >>here<< where you can go hear two minute excerpts of every song to try-before-you-buy. (The subject/target of the rant alleges to support independent artists by sharing their records in their entirety. Yeah, right... You see, if an artist provides a means to audition their music for free in a legitimate manner, then the whole argument of filesharing as a method of hearing something before you buy it completely falls apart, and is reduced down to what it is at its core: theft from the artist. Small artists like Collapse Into Reason and Out Out spend far more money making the music than we ever receive from sales. Every time someone cheaps out and copies our records or illegally downloads them they are stealing from us. You like it and wanna 'own' it? Dont just "rip it" or "burn it" or download it off some torrent or P2P site... Buy it. Period. It's not only the right and fair thing to do, it's the only legal one as well. And if you're going to download, make sure the site that is charging you for the download is legitimate, and actually pays the artists. Some sites out there (a lot of Russian ones, for example) aren't paying the artists, they're simply charging for downloads and keeping all the money. Pure criminal assholes.)>

Listening to: Wir "The First Letter" on Compact Disc.

10.11.05

I noticed someone found this site via a search for "pepperbox muzzle" "out out" and "equipment". Email me and ask - I'd be happy to chat. The short answer is "Roland D-110" "Roland Juno-60" "Yamaha DX-27" "Ensoniq EPS" and "Alesis MMT-8".

CD Playin': Wipeout XL for some good getting-stuff-done-around-the-house tunes, and Vein Cage's (tentatively titled) "My Brother Madness" (the 'lost' second album - perhaps to be released on Radio Valkyrie..!?!)

10.3.05

Fabryka, an online magazine in Poland, has just published a small Out Out interview. Read it Polish >>here<<, or wait a while, and they're going to have their English version online soon... Thanks, NINa!

Our very dear friend José Ayerve (of the bands Spouse & Nuclear Waste Management Club) lost his father recently in a shooting in Columbia. Please take a moment to read José's thoughts >>here<<.

Spiral scratch: PWEI's RSVP 12" (love the Fluke remixes...)

9.27.05

Circus Of Dead Squirrel's "Outdoor Recess" remix CD features a remix by Out Out ("Heaven Can't Help Us".) Another "old-school" remix adventure. The CD also features remixes by Vein Cage and Collapse Into Reason, among many others...

Tuned In: Custom radio stations on Rhapsody. Fluke, Blancmange, and Cabaret Voltaire come up a lot on this one station...

9.14.05

The remix of Ayria's "My Revenge On The World" is also going to be included on the "Advanced Electronics Vol. 4" Compilation (Synthetic Symphony Records.)

Additionally, Radio Free Abattoir is now carrying "1989-1999" as a very high-quality MP3 download, both as individual songs and as a full album.

Listen to Radio Free Abattoir: Dark Alternative Internet Radio

Not listening to anything much at home these days, but enjoying mixing The Mitchells new full-length, and their songs stick in my head so... Also, helping fine-tune the Collapse Into Reason live show, so again, their songs stick in my head...

9.13.05

Very pleased to announce that Out Out's remix of Ayria's "My Revenge On The World" has been included on the limited box version of their latest release "Flicker". An "old-school-stylee" remix in a ON-USound way...

It's quiet here right now, otherwise.

9.6.05

CD Pulse is listing '1989-1999' for sale on their site now. Should be only a few days until they have CDs in their warehouse for shipping.

Now Playing: "Short and Sassy - The Instrumentals" 12" from Tino & "Echo In Space Dub"/"Retrograde Pt.2 Dub WE R 1" 12" from Meat Beat Manifesto. It's been a Tino/Meat Beat week over here. kinda makes me wanna DJ again...

9.2.05

Not outraged? Your heart still beating? It is? Sit up and pay attention to what's going on in the world.

So, depsite knowing about how potentially damaging Katrina would be and acting preemptively, and even after-the-fact only getting help to where it is needed, say, like tomorrow (not even there NOW) the government, on all levels, in all parties, has acted with clear disregard and negligence. ANYONE who is not COMPLETELY DISGUSTED by this is simply not paying attention. What reason does our government have to act so carelessluy (The president waited an extra day to come back from vacation, the vice president STILL is on vacation, and secretary of state Rice took in a showing of Spamalot and did some grand shoe shopping in Manhattan (putting her in NYC, not DC) on Wednesday. They ALL should have been at their offices working on the obvious crisis. Nope. Adds up more like passive deliberate domestic genocide to me. What to do? YELL at your elected officials and representatives, from the very local levels all the way up to writing the White House. SCREAM at them that you won't stand for this kind of inhumane disconnected behavior. DEMAND that the goverment return to what it hasn't been doing for a very very long time now: serving the people who elected them, for the people's best interest. The time has come for this bullshit to end. Pass it on.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has an appropriate level of anger. Hear it >>here<< courtesy of Air America Radio.

Also, read the open letter to the president, printed by the New Orleans Times-Picayune >>here<< via CNN.

Armed Audio Warfare: The new, yet-to-be-released Vein Cage CD 'No Good Deed Goes Unpunished". A perfect record for the anger and disgust coarsing through my being over the idiocy of the country.

8.31.05

CD Baby has set up a really good thing in an option for artists to donate profits to the Red Cross in the wake of the Katrina disaster. All profits from the sale of "1989-1999" are being donated this way, when purchased from CD Baby. ) If you'd like to help a lot of people out, go buy a bunch of CDs from CD Baby. Buy several copies of many records to use as gifts, or buy all the things you always wanted to check out, knowing that the artists are donating their profits. The link to the (growing) list of CDs entered in this program is http://cdbaby.com/group/redcross. Tell your, um, well, tell everyone.

A moment of silence is observed here for everyone who is suffering in the world. Seems that number just keeps on growing all the time. What is wrong with all of us? Please explain.

8.28.05

I was recently alerted to an error that, so far, only affects iTunes. It's that "E&E" on the digital download version of Nisus is somehow listed as "Out Out". The authorites have been alerted.

DVD in the player: "Tino Vision". Worth getting for "Attention Earth People" alone.

8.22.05

Bob Moog just died. A major loss. His impact on our art was and is immesurable. Go to MoogMusic.com for details about his life and work.

Streaming: the "New Wave" and "Computer World" channels on Rhapsody. Having just moved into our new house, my record library is still being unpacked and organised (although the turntable was one of the first things hooked up(!))

7.30.05

We rarely have earthquakes here, but the house kinda shook last night. Only for a second. And I didn't think it was a full moon, but it sure was bright - I could see titles of the books on the bookshelf from across the room.

7.28.05

Cool. iTunes has "Pepperbox Muzzle" "Finched" and "Nisus" already available. Like mentioned before, all of the Out Out back catalog reissues, and the Vein Cage "Feral Din" record have been touched up in mastering to optimise the sound for the land of lossy compression (digital downloading's native tongue.) Please note this does not mean they've been compressed and limited to the rediculous levels many in the music industry think makes a record 'competitive' - just merely optimised to try and get the most out of AAC/MP3/WMA formats. See the Links page on the main Radio Valkyrie site (click the statue to get there) to find a page about the horrid trend in LOUD CDS and why it is bad, bad, bad. (It's in the 'info to know' section.)

Listenin': Adrian Sherwood "The Master Recordings Vol. 1" CD, and a demo for a possible new recording I'm working on (waaaaay off the beaten path - there's not a synth, drum, bass, or vocal on it. Drone central...)

7.12.05

On the downloads page there is now a chart showing the progress of all Radio Valkyrie releases through the legitimate digital downloading world. That is, as each site receives the tracks for processing, we'll reflect that on this site, so people looking for particular songs or albums can at least be aware if their favorite downloading site has them yet. It can take weeks for a company to make a release available for download after they receive it, so for now this chart will only reflect whether they even have it in their offices or not.

The wheels of steel: Ultravox "Reap The Wild Wind" 7", Heaven 17 "Let's All Make A Bomb" (b-side of the "Come Live With Me" 7"), Chris Vrenna and Clint Walsh (Tweaker) "Doom 3 Theme Song" 7", and the Joe Jackson Band "The Harder The Come" 7", among many others. The new turntable is so sweet.

7.04.05

Happy 4th of July to y'all in the USA. (And a good day to everyone else, as well...)
I don't like overtly mixing politics with music (unless it's in the lyrics - another topic entirely) but I want to say one thing: This country we're in need to be reminded that we're all in this together - to stop being so partisan about everything. "Us VS. Them" is driving this country into the s**tter. Oh, and whatever happened to Separation of Church & State? Freedom of Religion? The Constitution? The F***ing BILL OF RIGHTS? Hm? HM?!?
As the Clash so appropriately said; "Know Your Rights". Oh, remember it's possible to be a patriot, support the troops, and still think the current war is complete BS - based on lies and hidden agenda.
Figured this was a good day to 'soapbox' a little. Enough of that.

"Pepperbox Muzzle" and Vein Cage's "Feral Din" are in the Radio Valkyrie Digital pipeline now, too. We'll see just how long it takes to travel down that digital distribution rabbit hole...

Now spinnin': The Smiths "Louder Than Bombs" LP, The Pernice Brothers "Discover A Lovlier You" CD, Dr. John The Night Tripper "Gris Gris" LP, Ohgr "Welt" CD & Cowboys International "The Original Sin" LP, among other stuff...

6.29.05

It's HOT. Well, better than cold for me...

So today I'm asking all of you out there who are thinking about picking up "1989-1999" used, as opposed to new, to consider two things: 1) Artists make absolutely nothing from the sale of a used CD. and 2) if it has a black spot or the word 'promo' on the bar code, it's a promotional copy I not only gave away, but paid (lost money) to ship. The recipient is selling it and making money, but I am losing money. So this is a plea to you all who are shopping around for the 'best price' - please consider supporting the artist directly! The smaller the artist, the more each used/used promo being sold hurts the artist! (On eBay, for example, where you could also get it directly from me, but could do that here and get a free mp3 with it, too..) I pay for everything Radio Valkyrie and Out Out do completely out of my pocket - I assure the world I am not making any real profit on this! "1989-1999" has yet to make 10% of it's investment back! Help out any buy new! (See also 5.23.05 below for thoughts on illegal downloading..!) Thanks.

In other news, Radio Valkyrie Digital is ramping up, with "Finched" and "Nisus" starting to hit the chain that makes them available on legitamate downloading sites. More to follow soon.

6.6.05

Music Non Stop in the UK has agreed to offer "1989-1999" to their customers! It should be available pretty soon. Thanks, MNS. (6.8.05: And what a review of the record on their site! Can't say I disagree with a single word. (winky-style emoticon here, please...))

On the NEW turntable: (yeah! the old faithful one died a pathetic death while working it's little heart out for my listening pleasure several days ago... little motor just started going slower and slower.) Fluke's "Switch/Twitch" 12", Echo and the Bunnymen's "Seven Seas" 7", Radio 4's "Eyes Wide Open/Struggle" 7" and about a billion other singles to test the new beast out.

6.4.05

Darla Records has added "1989-1999" to their catalog! We profusely thank them for their gracious support.

Also, WNRN, WBGU, KSCU, WWSU, KTRU, CKCU, Dark Millenium in Hartford, and Sykoradio online are recently playing the new collection.

Some nice man named Nick over at CD Baby gave "1989-1999" a super 5-star review. There was seven (7) pluses (+'s) after his "A". Thanks, Nick!

Ears (and eyes) on: Negativland's "Death Sentences of the Polished and Structurally Weak" and Einsturzende Neubauten's "Anarchitektur" CDs.

5.23.05

Radio Valkyrie Records digital-download division is being launched. Called, simply, 'Radio Valkyrie Digital' this wing of this here label will feature, as the name implies, digital-download only releases. For the time being, the releases will be available through the regular pay sites like iTunes, MusicMatch, MSN Music, Napster, and so on. As it takes weeks, if not months, for releases to filter through the system and become available on these sites, there will be no formal release date for RVD releases. Announcements of titles submitted into the system are the closest thing we'll have for now. Perhaps, if it can be easily worked out, we'll have full-album sets of MP3s for sale directly on this site, but for now, sorry, no go.

The first batch of releases will include Out Out's 'Pepperbox Muzzle', 'Finched', 'Nisus' and 'Voiceprint'. Also, the long-out-of-print 'Feral Din' from Vein Cage will be in this batch, and will feature the addition of two pre-'Feral Din' demos long thought to be lost. All five records have undergone a little sonic scrutiny to insure maximum translation to MP3/AAC. The Vein Cage album is essentially remastered! Stay tuned!

(I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that independent releases cost money to do - please don't share/trade/copy/illegally distribute music, as it hurts the artist. When you pay for music, you enable the artist to continue making and releasing music. Radio Valkyrie Records and Out Out are purely independent and self-funded - every penny counts & I appreciate any and all support. I trust you all to make the right choice and to encourage others as well.
(There is a misguided belief by many these days that record sales don't matter, somehow, but that artists make a living playing live concerts. I don't play live, first of all, and secondly, the majority of those who really make any real money touring are *really major* acts. (You know the type - $60+ for a ticket...) No, live performances are more about promotion to help a band become better known, and to - guess what - sell records (CDs, downloads, whatever) and merchandise! It's true - please don't blindly believe what many say to justify their ripping off of artists, by some unsubstantiated argument. It's a myth that this doesn't affect the artist. Anyone who says they are a fan of a band, but then turns around an downloads their music illegally is doing the equivalent of slapping food out of the artist's hands while they try to eat, at the same time smiling and telling them they love them. Think about it.) Thanks.)

Providing compression and rarefaction of the air around: Love and Rockets' "Mirror People" '88 12" and The The's "45 RPM" cd.

5.9.05

On the stereo: Brian Eno's "Here Come The Warm Jets" and Echo & The Bunnymen's "Porcupine" - both the new, remastered CDs. Yow.

3.31.05

In the 'how did it end up there?' file: A Japanese shop called RecordShopBASE.com has the CD. From their listings, translated via Babelfish: "Industrial ROCK due to MARK ALAN MILLER which has been active from eighties latter halves! 89-99 the compilation board which gathered the sound source of year! 2 groups of all the 28 tune entering! Video you see and the ? increase! Originality!"

Wow.

CDs of late: Medicine "His Lowness", The Beatles "Revolver" & The Futureheads.

3.27.05

This email was so good I had to share an excerpt:

"So, I get Playboy: The Mansion, right? I flip to the Industrial channel on Hef's radio, and am straight up blown away. There are such good tracks that it takes me 3 days to even check another station." -Rob F.

Thanks, Rob!

Sunday afternoon spins: Laika's "Sounds of the Satellites" CD.

There is a new interview online at Virus! magazine. Click >>here<< to read it. Thanks to Breda and everyone at Virus! for all their support.

On the CD player: The freshly mastered "Electromantic" by Collapse Into Reason, and New Radiant Storm King's "Winters Kill". Yeah, sometimes I listen to my own work...

3.14.05

Good News, Everyone! (What is it, professor?) Tommy T from DSBP is heading up radio/dj promotion for "1989-1999" this spring in the US. The CD is also now available from dsbp.cx. Go to the Shop page for a link there.

Also, there is something new in the Download section. Go grab it. (Swing through the Shop and consider a 2CD set for yourself or someone you love?)

Stacks o' wax: Shonen Knife's "Lazy Bone" 7", Front 242's "Quite Unusual" 7", Japan's "Sometimes I Feel So Low" 7", and Visage's "The Damned Don't Cry" 7", among others this evening. (Curse you, eBay, and your evil ways, for making me buy stuff I want, and showing me that there is more stuff that I want than I even knew.)

3.5.05

Virus! mag has posted the first review of "1989-1999".
They call it "A must-have."
9 skulls out of ten. Read it >>here<<.

I'm fussing about with a 'jukebox' to make medley/samples of tracks from "1989-1999" available to people who aren't yet convinced they need this CD in their collection. Hearing is believing. (Insert another smiley emoticon here.) We'll see if it's a go or not in a day or three.

Needle on the record: Fluke's "Electric Guitar (Humbucker/Sunburst/Headstock)" 12"

3.1.05

'No. 5 United' has peaked at #1 for the current 'industrial' charts and #3 on the all-time 'industrial' charts today, on Garageband...

There is now a link on the Shop page to the CDBaby page where there are 2:00 samples of every song on "1989-1999".

The number of places carrying the CD is growing... online shops are listed in the Shop page, and some retail stores across the country are starting to stock it as well. (Vintage Vinyl in NJ is one I just learned of...)

Speakers pumpin': Little Axe's latest CD "Champagne and Grits". Very nice.

2.22.05

Thanks to everyone who's picked up the CD! If this keeps up I'll be able to keep this label going with another release sometime this year.
Thanks also to themovementoffear.com for the mention and the banner ad! Rock!
A shout-out, as they say, to The Evolutionaries, whose song "all the dark things" got put on repeat on the ride home from the studio tonight. Check 'em out.
CD Baby have said the CDs are in their hands... now starts the trickle-down of availability from them to Tower and all those iTunes type sites.

Spinnin': Ultra Vivid Scene's "joy 1967-1990". No, it's not a best of...

2.15.05

1989-1999: "Hasten The Burning..." is officially released as of today. Metropolis has them in their hands and should be processing them as soon as they can. Artoffact should have them any day now, and fufilling any pre-orders they have gotten as well. Additionally, CDBaby will have them available very very soon, which means Tower online will follow, and eventually most every major download site, like iTunes, MusicMatch, MSN Music, & Napster,, will as well. Now, let's see it sell so I can release some more goodies I've saved up. (Insert smiley emoticon here.) Here's a new photo, grumpy after the recent snowfall and resultant backache from shovelling out, it looks like.

On the stereo: the upcoming Stone Coyotes CD "Fire It Up" & Red Lorry Yellow Lorry "Paint Your Wagon".

2.10.05

The CDs have arrived! All pre-orders for '1989-1999' will be in the mail by the weekend.
Garageband.com has also added "No. 5 United" as 'track of the day' for Feb 17th...

In the CD player: Out Out "1989-1999" ... of course, I have to make sure it's good, right?

2.8.05

Just got word... due to the apparently superlative reviews "No. 5 United new mix" is getting over there, GarageBand.com has nominated it "track of the week" for the week of Feb. 14, 2005. Yeah. (For what it's worth, it's peaked at #3 on the current and #12 on the all-time industrial charts...)

Now Playing: The Human League's "Travelogue" LP. (Diggin' through the archives a lot these days.)

The distribution of '1989-1999' is getting more sorted all the time. Metropolis Records has it on their mail-order site, and is also making it available to select retailers in the USA. Artoffact.com has it on the mail order site Storming The Base.com in Canada, and is also making it available to select stores there. If all works out, Choke will also have it soon...
Thanks to eveyone getting in early and pre-ordering it here - being able to start paying for the pressing this early helps, and may eventually allow another release sometime this year. I hope.

Under the stylus: Simple Minds' "Celebration" LP.

2.1.05

The 2-CD set '1989-1999' is now available for pre-ordering, with shipments estimated in the middle of February!

The first 100 orders will receive a free MP3 download of "D.W.I. - original version" which is not previously available on CD, and is not on this 2-CD set, either.

PayPal is the method we use for the shopping cart here, but if you want to arrange other methods of payment, please contact us on the Contact page.

On the stereo: Snow Patrol's "Final Straw" CD. I really like this record, but is it just me or did they deliberately lump the three 'mixed-by-the-big-name-guy' songs together in the middle of the record so they didn't color one's impression of the overall sound of the album? I prefer the other guy's mixes - more character.

On a bit of a roll with the Download page.. this is becoming kind of interesting to me, if not to anyone else; I'm digging through old 4-track recordings I did in the late 80's and picking out some things, that while I wouldn't likely ever ask anyone to pay for, I still would like to share with the world. Check 'em out - and drop me a note through the Contact page if you do.

Listening to: OMD "Dazzle Ships" LP - wow, when the chorus of 'Radio Waves' busts in...!

Just added a new Download section. This is where some free stuff will live. A couple of MP3 tidbits in there.

Playboy: The Mansion shipped today! Read below (11.16.04) as to why I'm happy about this.

Listening to: Shriekback's "Care" LP.

Sitting here expecting 1 to 2 feet of snow, so it's update time.

I'm gonna start mentioning what's playing on the stereo each time I do this, "just because". Today, it's Wire's "1985-1990: The A List". Only after I typed that did I notice the album title, and that made me chuckle.

The 1989-1999 CD is at the plant, the distribution is getting lined up, and I'm expecting a February 15th release date! So far, industrial-music.com (Metropolis' mail order wing) and artoffact.com are covering some of the US and Canada availability, and the online front has CDBaby and Tower helping out. Of course, it'll be available here, for $15 with shipping included - not too shabby for a 2CD set, too.

I've got a bonus track idea, where people who order from here via PayPal will be able to download an MP3, not included on the CDs, for free after completing the PayPal transaction. Stay tuned to see if I can make that work.

With a little luck, there may be distribution in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by the Hamburg-based BROKEN SILENCE and in the US and Canada by CHOKE, brought to us by an affiliation with the great folks at Pigeon Records.

And we're still working on the Amazon.com thing.

When this CD pays itself back, there are some more Out Out things on the back burner, but I'll tell more as that becomes relevant, as not to tease too much. (I've mentioned a bit about one of them before.) But I'll say this much - it's all previously unavailable on CD.

The track "No.5 United" (the new mix from the upcoming 2CD retrospective) has been selected as today's 'Track Of The Day' at Garageband.com in the Industrial genre. A pleasant surprise, as I only uploaded the song 2 days ago...
